About this Opportunity
Description of Duties
The work is generally standing, or sitting with mild lifting (not more than 20 lbs) on an occasional basis. Volunteers must be able to follow directions and, after training, safely operate a tour boat according to the SOP. Must have and show respect for government property. Must be mindful and responsive to visitors at the park. Volunteers must be able to work outdoors for long periods in temperatures above 80 degrees or in light rain. Must represent the National Park Service in a professional manner at all times.

- Provide for the safe operation of the tour boat for the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center.
- Provide efficient, courteous services, and helpful information to park visitors
Knowledge/Skills/Experience Desired:
- Safe boat operations and training
- 1st aid training
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Knowledge of local area and resources helpful
- Bi-lingual language skills helpful
- Familiarity with NPS history, policies, rules, regulations, legislation, and similar guidelines.
Special Requirements:
Volunteer will need to become certified in the Department of the Interior Motorboat Operator Certification and 1st aid training. The volunteer will spend a major portion of the work time standing while operating the tour boat in a safe manner.
Supervision:
Visitor Center Desk volunteer will work under the supervision of the park Supervisory Park Ranger.
Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily outdoors.

Hours per month: 8 hour minimum, during tour season
Hours per week: 4 hours, during tour season
