About this Opportunity

Grandview is a day use area located on the rim of the New River Gorge. Overlooks provide spectacular views looking down 1400 feet from the rim to the river. Several short hiking trails in the area are very popular with park visitors. This position serves as the primary visitor contact person for the Grandview area of the park.

This position has a full hook-up RV trailer pad available for parking and using your RV for housing. The RV pad is located at the Grandview Day Use Areas not in a park campground. Each individual must work a minimum of 32 hours per week for use of the trailer pad.

This is a two to five month position that can take place anytime from April-October.

Major duties include staffing of the Grandview Contact Station and Day Use Area including: professionally representing the National Park Service by providing very high quality customer service; opening and closing the facility; providing orientation, information, and interpretation to visitors; telling visitors about park activities; informing visitors of potential safety hazards; distributing maps and brochures as requested; operating a cash register and selling bookstore merchandise; accurately collecting and accounting for monies; and operating basic audio-visual equipment.

Duties also may include roving of trails and grounds to assist park users with orientation, information, and interpretation of the park; inform visitors of potential safety hazards; distribute maps and brochures as needed and picks up trash and litter deposited along the trails.
