About this Opportunity
The Site Steward will serve as a volunteer within the Nevada Archaeological Site Stewardship Program (NASSP) administered by the Nevada State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The steward will need to complete the Nevada State Historical Preservation Office's Site Stewardship Basic Training Program prior to being assinged to a site. Stewards may need to attend periodic refresher courses to maintain active steward status. Other trainings may be required and will be provided to the steward. The Steward will visit and inspect at least one assigned archaeological site at least once a quarter to monitor and report on the site condition observed, including vandalism, damage, or changes. Other opportunities to participate in archaeological site recording, inventories, site rehabilitation, restoration, and excavation may be provided to active stewards if the steward is interested.
No all terrain vehicles (ATVs) will be used while performing site stewardship duties.
