About this Opportunity
Trail patroler - the individual and/or group will hike/patrol the adopted trail a minimum of 1 time a month (March-November). They will pick up and pack out litter, inspect trail and trail signs, perform light trail clearing (by hand) of limbs, etc., assist visitors and provide information as needed, promote Leave No Trace outdoor ethics, and submit a completed trail report for each hike. You must follow current trail standards for maintaining the trail you have adopted.
Trail Maintainer - the individual and/or group will perform basic trail maintenance such as cleaning out current water bars, repairing drainage problems, pruning and trimming encroaching vegetation, and removing downed trees and branches from the trail. (Approved trail maintenance standards will be followed for each trail.) Volunteer (s) will identify and minimize trail safety hazards and will report any additional maintenance needs and safety hazards to the Facility Manager. Volunteers will use weed eaters, rakes, shovels, limb pruners, and other hand tools with training being provided in the proper use of all equipment and trail maintenance standards.
All volunteers Must be able to work outside in differing weather conditions and hike 2-8 miles per day. Trail terrain may be rugged and uneven. Gloves, water, and any safety equipment needed will be provided to the volunteer while working. Transportation to the work site will be provided by the volunteer(s) and not the park. Proper footwear (boots or tennis shoes) must be worn at all times.
