Press & Media Outreach Volunteer

About the Role

We are seeking a Press & Media Outreach Volunteer to help expand our visibility and amplify our mission through traditional and digital media channels. This role is distinct from Marketing & Outreach, focusing specifically on earned media and press relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and news updates
• Build and maintain a press contact list of local, regional, and national outlets
• Pitch stories and events to journalists, bloggers, and other media contacts
• Track and archive media coverage
• Collaborate with the Marketing & Outreach team to align messaging and timing

Qualifications

• Strong writing and editing skills
• Interest or experience in journalism, public relations, or communications
• Comfortable reaching out to media outlets via phone/email
• Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive

Time Commitment

Flexible; approximately 3–5 hours per week. Some tasks may align with event schedules.
