From visual arts and music to writing and performance, we provide creative outlets that support emotional healing and personal growth.
About the Role
As a Human Resources Manager (Volunteer), you’ll be a key strategic partner within our organization—leading HR initiatives, overseeing department operations, and managing a team of volunteers and interns. You will be instrumental in shaping our HR strategy, maintaining strong team dynamics, and creating a positive, productive experience for all team members.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with HR leadership experience looking to give back while strengthening their professional portfolio in a fully remote, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the HR department and lead a team of coordinators and associates.
- Oversee the end-to-end recruitment cycle, including job postings, resume reviews, interviews, and onboarding.
- Develop and enforce HR policies, procedures, and documentation best practices.
- Resolve employee relations matters with professionalism and discretion.
- Support performance management initiatives, including check-ins, evaluations, and feedback collection.
- Lead department meetings and serve as the HR point of contact for cross-functional team leaders.
- Collaborate with leadership to align HR strategies with organizational goals and volunteer experience.
- Mentor junior HR volunteers and interns to promote their development and success.
What We’re Looking For
- 1–2+ years of HR leadership experience or team management in a nonprofit or corporate setting
- Strong understanding of human resources practices and policies
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead with empathy, clarity, and a commitment to collaboration
- Experience with virtual team tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, ClickUp, and Zoom
- High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
- A self-starter who can lead projects independently and contribute to strategic goals
Additional Details
- This is a remote, volunteer position that requires a minimum 6-month commitment.
- A consistent 10–15 hours/week is expected, with flexibility in scheduling.
- You must have access to a reliable internet connection, computer, and be available for weekly video meetings and team check-ins.
- Internship or leadership credit can be provided if applicable.
